Then they released a self-titled album under squint entertainment, this album slowly began developing attention from a much wider audience. Next in the year 1999, the single "Kiss Me" was released, bringing Sixpence into the national pop spotlight. This Grammy nominated song soon became the song with the highest airplay in over 10 countries including the UK, Canada, and Japan (the band re recorded "Kiss Me" this time with Japanese lyrics!!). also the song was released in Australia and was also got featured in a number of motion pictures like, She's All That and TV Shows like Dawson's Creek, MTV's The Real World, Saturday Night Live, The Young and the Restless, and also on Days of Our Lives and many more. Also a version of the video for this song became VH1's top video for the full month of May. In year 1999 and month of June, "Kiss Me" was featured on the BBC's worldwide transmit of Prince Edward's wedding ceremony; this was at the request of Britain's royal family.

In year 2000, the band recorded a cover of The La's "There She Goes"; this became their second big hit single. This song was added to the re-released version of Sixpence's self-titled album as an additional track.
